How to work out the true cost of a QAR → BDT transfer

Recipient gets = (amount − fee) × provider rate
Rate margin cost = (mid-market rate − provider rate) × (amount − fee) ÷ mid-market rate
True cost = rate margin cost + fee  →  as % of amount sent

Most people compare fees and ignore the rate, but on a 1,000 QAR transfer a 2% rate margin costs 20 QAR — usually far more than the fee. Always check the provider's rate against the mid-market rate shown above at the moment you send.

About this corridor

Bangladesh pays a government cash incentive (currently 2.5%) on remittances sent through formal banking channels, which is added on top of the exchange rate — so a slightly weaker rate from a bank can still beat an informal channel.

The Qatari riyal is pegged to USD 1 = QAR 3.64, so the QAR/BDT rate is effectively the USD/BDT rate divided by 3.64. Indicative mid-market rate used if live data is unavailable: 1 QAR = 33.52 BDT (2026-10-19).

Frequently asked questions

What is the QAR to BDT exchange rate today?

The calculator loads today's mid-market rate when the page opens (indicatively 1 QAR ≈ 33.52 BDT). The mid-market rate is the midpoint between buy and sell prices on the currency markets — the rate you see on Google or XE — and no provider gives you exactly this rate; they add a margin.

How much is 1,000 QAR in BDT?

At the indicative mid-market rate, 1,000 QAR ≈ 33,516.48 BDT. What you actually receive depends on your provider's rate margin and fee — enter them in the calculator to see the real amount.

What is the cheapest way to send money from Qatar to Bangladesh?

Compare the total cost: (mid-market rate − provider rate) × amount + transfer fee. Exchange houses and apps are usually cheapest for small cash-pickup amounts; fintech transfer services and bank-to-bank apps are usually cheapest for larger amounts to bank accounts. Banks' own international transfers are almost always the most expensive once the rate margin is counted.

Why is the rate I am offered lower than the rate on Google?

Google shows the mid-market rate. Providers make money by offering you a slightly worse rate (the margin or spread), typically 0.5–1% for fintechs and exchange houses and 2–4% for banks, on top of any fixed fee.

Is money sent to Bangladesh taxed?

Personal remittances to family in Bangladesh are generally not taxed on receipt. Some countries actually pay an incentive on formal-channel transfers — see the corridor notes above.

When is the best time to send QAR to BDT?

The Qatari riyal is pegged to the US dollar, so the QAR/BDT rate moves with USD/BDT. Watch the dollar: when the Bangladeshi taka weakens against the dollar you get more BDT per QAR. Rate alerts in most transfer apps let you send automatically at a target rate.

What documents do I need to send money?

In Qatar you need your Emirates ID / national ID / iqama / civil ID (as applicable) and, for larger or regular transfers, proof of income such as a salary certificate. Transfers are reported under anti-money-laundering rules; this is routine.
