Breakdown
How it works
Each Salik gate charges per crossing. Peak (6–10am and 4–8pm, Monday–Saturday) costs AED 6; other times AED 4; 1–6am is free; Sundays are AED 4 all day. A Sheikh Zayed Road commute through two gates each way at peak costs AED 24 a day — over AED 500 a month.
Formula
Worked example
4 gates a day, 2 at peak, 22 days + 6 weekend crossings: (12 + 8) × 22 + 24 = AED 464 a month.
Frequently asked questions
How can I reduce Salik costs?
Shift travel outside peak windows, use Al Khail Road or Emirates Road to avoid gates, or take the Metro (AED 3–7.50 a trip).
